Home » Hello!
Welcome! The Little Easels Art Program has evolved over 12 years of teaching and researching children’s art education. Designed to support and encourage innovation, imagination and confidence in students own ideas and abilities. Freedom of creativity and learning to work independently is an important part of the program, nuturing unique creative potential and celebrating artistic diversity. Art education is exciting, valuable and necessary for a future of innovative thinkers and makers. The program offers demonstrations, inspirations and guidance whilst allowing for as much choice as possible. Encouraging imagination and investment in their own artwork so they develop skills, confidence and ingenuity that can be applied outside of art classes.
Students explore a wide range of art materials including charcoal, ink, oil & chalk pastels, sketch pencils, watercolour, acrylic, clay, specialty papers, canvas, printing inks and more. Each week explores a different process – collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Every term we create a kiln fired ceramic work.
Our art room is at North Balgowlah Community Centre, Bardoo Ave, North Balgowlah.
Hi! I am Jenni Barrand the creator and teacher of the Little Easels Art Program. It has been my pleasure to teach art to children and fine tune the program since 2005. I have a Adv.Dip. of Fine Arts and Foundation in Ceramics. I have exhibited work across Sydney, with experience in painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, photography and digital art. Previous to Little Easels I worked with children as a drama teacher, nanny and in early childcare. I have a background in Film and TV with a Performing Arts Diploma and worked as an actress, prop designer and stage assistant.
I grew up in the UK and relocated to Sydney where I am lucky to now live on the northern beaches with my husband, my own two little creators and our cat Punky who is a master in the art of eating and sleeping.
I teach all classes at Little Easels and look forward to meeting your little artist!
